Hey John,
Sure, both are pretty tough exams and have prerequisites. CFP is one exam and has a lot of required coursework to take the exam. CPA requires 150 credits (120 in some states) and specific college courses. It's 4 exams, each of which has a pass rate around 50%.
CFP makes sense if you want to venture into financial planning. CPA makes sense if you want to do audit work, work as a CFO of a big company, or work at a national accounting firm.
Otherwise, I'd say the juice ain't work the squeeze.
If you decide to get both, the order is important. CPA should be first since the CFP has an accelerated path where you can skip all the coursework except the Capstone course which is quite easy to take.
